Grand Central’s successful three-year partnership with TAFE Queensland to subsidise retail and hospitality training to those living in the Toowoomba region has seen 233 students taking advantage of the subsidy since its foundation.
Delivering these scholarships through the partnership with TAFE South West Queensland offered Grand Central a fantastic opportunity to meaningfully contribute to the future of the Toowoomba region by investing in the local community to enhance local employment opportunities, both at Grand Central and at other retail or hospitality businesses in the area.
The program, which wrapped up this year, delivered practical, industry-relevant retail and hospitality training, including courses in retail services, retail operations, kitchen operations and hospitality.
Participants in the program were also able to take advantage of unique experiences during the $500 million redevelopment of Grand Central, including touring the site while it was under construction, and gaining valuable work experience in the days leading up to the first two staged openings, helping retailers prepare their stores for opening.
The productive partnership with TAFE South West Queensland continues, with Grand Central running fully-subsidised internal training sessions for Centre staff with the of accredited TAFE trainers.
