The COVID-19 pandemic has continued to impact our communities throughout the year. It required teams across our assets to be nimble in response to community needs. Support for people impacted came in many shapes and sizes.

In partnership with the Victorian Government, QIC converted car parking facilities at Epping, Werribee, Watergardens, and Eastland into drive-through COVID testing clinics, providing safe and convenient locations for the community to access this important service.

To show their gratitude for our local communities, staff at QICGRE centres mobilised the 'A little thanks' campaign, to demonstrate their appreciation for essential and frontline workers. Knowing that acts of gratitude personally impact every recipient, it was vital that these efforts were genuine and heartfelt.

In 2020 alone, QICGRE centres donated over 28,000 bottles of hand sanitiser, supported and acknowledged over 280 local organisations, gave away $24,000 in Centre gift cards, delivered over 26,000 care packages within local communities, and shared over 640 thank you posts on owned social media channels.

In Brisbane, our office assets joined the Property Council of Australia's campaign to support local businesses during periods of eased restrictions. The ‘Fridays in the City’ campaign was aimed at encouraging office workers to come into the office on Friday and support CBD-based hospitality and retail businesses by hosting activations across the city.

QIC joined other landlords in the CBD by creating activations, including engaging local businesses to provide free ice-cream, gourmet biscuits and canape breakfasts. The events were well received and appreciated by staff.
