During the school holidays in March 2019, the Gold Coast’s Robina Town Centre partnered with Surf Lifesaving Queensland to celebrate the surf lifesavers who protect our beaches, while highlighting the importance of surf safety.

In addition to meeting local surf lifesavers, visitors could learn how to spot a rip, experience being caught in a rip using virtual reality (VR) technology, test their surf knowledge for the chance of winning a share in $30,000 worth of prizes from Robina’s custom-built vending machine and, of course, donate to Surf Lifesaving Queensland.

The launch of the pop-up Robina Surf Lifesaving Club, complete with its own club colours, celebrated the Gold Coast’s unique environment, which is home to over 50 kilometres of shoreline, over 20 surf lifesaving clubs, and enjoys around 300 days of sunshine each year.

The pop-up launched ahead of Surf Lifesaving Queensland’s 2019 Queensland Youth State Championships, which saw 1,600 young surf sport athletes compete at Burleigh, and the 2019 Queensland Senior State Championships which was held at Broadbeach.
