Michael O'Brien

Managing Director

With a career spanning more than 30 years in the property industry, as QICGRE's Managing Director, Michael is responsible for driving real estate investment and business strategy in alignment with the expectations of our investors, partners and the communities in which we operate. Michael has long-standing experience in managing end-to-end real estate platforms, including funds management, finance and shopping centre operations, management and development. He joined QICGRE from Vicinity where he held the positions of Chief Financial Officer and Chief Investment Officer, and previous to that spent almost a decade with GPT, where he was instrumental in strategically repositioning the business after the GFC, with roles including Acting Chief Executive, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Michael continues to drive QICGRE's diversity and inclusion initiatives as an executive member of the Property Council of Australia's Property Male Champions of Change program. Michael completed a Bachelor of Commerce at University of NSW and Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program. Michael also sits on the Board of the Green Building Council of Australia and the Shopping Centre Council of Australia.

David Asplin

David Asplin

Deputy Managing Director and Head of Funds Management

With more than 25 years' experience in institutional asset management, as QICGRE's Deputy Managing Director and Head of Funds Management, David leads the delivery of investment outcomes on behalf of QICGRE's clients, and also oversees QICGRE's Valuation, Compliance and Property Analytics teams. Prior to joining QICGRE as Chief Operating Officer in 2018, David led QIC's Global Clients and Marketing team and held the position of Managing Director of Global Business Development. In this role, David led QIC's client facing team of Business Development Directors and asset class Investment Specialists. Before joining QIC, David held senior positions at LaSalle Investment Management, Challenger Financial Services and Colonial First State. David completed a Bachelor of Business in Accountancy at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), with an extended Major in Accounting and a Minor in Finance.

Director – Capital

As QICGRE's Director of Capital, Matthew sits within our executive management team and is responsible for leading QICGRE's capital markets and US business strategy, leveraging his significant experience in that market, and driving the development of new product lines. Matthew's global team is well-equipped to prepare for emerging opportunities in an ever-changing wholesale and listed environment. With over 20 years' in the retail sector and 17 years' with QICGRE in regional shopping centre investment, development, product development and funds management, Matthew has overseen AUD18 billion in US and international transactions. Matthew was responsible for the establishment of QICGRE's real estate platform in the US, focusing on identifying new transaction opportunities. Matthew holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and a Bachelor of IT (Statistics and Applied Mathematics) from Bond University through a Vice Chancellor's Scholarship.

Melissa Hardy

Director - Business Performance and Technology

Melissa Hardy and her team are responsible for partnering with our Funds Management and Investment Management teams across a broad business performance remit including business strategy, improvement initiatives, P&L support, QICGRE technology, organisational change and stakeholder engagement and communications. The functions within Melissa's team include: Stakeholder Relations and Communication, Business Intelligence, Business Transformation and Initiatives, Digital and Real Estate Technology. Melissa holds a Masters of Business Administration and a Bachelor of International Business, International Management. She is also a Certified Turnaround Professional, and a Certified Prosci Change Management Practitioner.

Director – Australian Investment Management

Daryl oversees the operations of QICGRE's Australian real estate investment portfolio, incorporating asset and development management, leasing, property management and strategy across approximately 35 sites in Australia. His expertise in running end-to-end investment lifecycles is founded on more than 20 years’ experience in asset creation and management, with a keen focus on value enhancement and a strategic approach to stakeholder negotiations. Daryl is proud to head up a future focused team committed to delivering long-term, sustainable returns from a diversified property portfolio. His stewardship of QIC’s multimillion-dollar development pipeline includes the $800 million transformation of 80 Collins Street in Melbourne and the continued evolution of Canberra Centre, positioning these assets as the preeminent lifestyle destinations in their respective cities. Prior to joining QICGRE he held senior positions at Colonial First State and Novion Property Group. His professional experience is supported by a Bachelor of Business (Property) from RMIT.

Stuart Miller

Global Director - Asset Strategy

Based out of Los Angeles, Stuart oversees the conceptualisation of projects within the U.S. and Australia, focusing on QICGRE's asset creation strategy for optimising investment capacity and returns for our clients. Over his 20-year career with QICGRE, Stuart has been fundamental to our strategic asset creation program to reimagine retail centres through mixed-use commercial and retail assets and exceptional architecture and design. Most recently, Stuart has overseen award-winning projects including Eastland, Robina Town Centre and Canberra Centre, with a combined project value of AUD $3 billion. Stuart is a certified practicing valuer and holds a Bachelor of Business (University of Queensland), and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australia (FINSIA). Stuart is an Associate Member of the API and a Fellow of FINSIA.

Backed by more than two decades of strategic expertise within the retail, fashion, property, media and publishing industries, Skye is leading the business transformation of QICGRE. As the global head of strategy, Skye is responsible for predicting future consumer behaviour and for integrating product, brand and digital strategies across our portfolio in Australia and the US to create exceptional retail experiences that drive audience engagement and connection. Through her focus on product innovation to create adaptive places that bring people and communities together, Skye delivers market-leading investment and asset creation for our investors and retail and commercial partners. Skye holds a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University.

Head of Stakeholder Relations and Communications

With over 15 years’ experience in the property sector, specifically in the field of communications and engagement, Marc now oversees the external and internal communications output of QICGRE, delivered in collaboration with our partner agencies. Marc has been with associated with QICGRE for almost 14 years, providing strategic communications counsel for B2B public relations, internal communications and B2C communications at the asset level for QICGRE’s domestic and international portfolio. Marc’s role also includes the delivery of QICGRE’s environmental, social and governance engagement initiatives, aligned to our vision to reimagine the places where people to choose to be. Marc has a Bachelor of Communications and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland.

National Contracts Manager

Adrian has been involved in the successful delivery of QICGRE projects for more than 20 years. He leads our contracts team and manages risk throughout the entire lifecycle of our assets, commencing from acquisition, construction and re-development and throughout their operations. His extensive experience in real estate law, coupled with his insightful and practical approach to business, provides our team with crucial support to effectively manage our diverse, multifaceted portfolio. Adrian holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland. His career commenced as a solicitor at Allens in the Property and Projects group.
